QUOIT MEDIA SECONDS

When we publish and produce items such as books, CDs, and DVDs, there are always a small percentage of produced items which have some sort of small blemish (e.g. the corner of a book has been knocked or scuffed, a DVD case is cracked, and so forth) which usually happens in the shipping process from manufacturer to us here at QML.

These lightly blemished items are known as "seconds". We pride ourselves with the fact that we would never pass these items off as new and unblemished and send them to customers without explicit permission from them first.

All the items below have some sort of blemish (see description) and are available at reduced prices. Click HERE if you want to purchase them new and unblemished.

THE PRISONER DUSTED DOWN

By David Stimpson

A personal examination of The Prisoner TV series.

The Prisoner television series, filmed in 1966/67 and starring Patrick McGoohan as Number Six, has inspired much research since it was first broadcast more than 50 years ago. Its universal themes, allegorical content, and on-screen metaphors have stimulated debate, and confusion, amongst its viewers and ardent fans and much that was seen on screen has remained enigmatic. Until now.

The culmination of more than five years of research by series aficionado David Stimpson, The Prisoner Dusted Down re-examines the entire series, unearthing new information and offering fresh, personal perspectives on the finished episodes.

Answering questions you always wanted answered, and questioning answers you always believed, The Prisoner Dusted Down is a must-read for anyone with an interest in the most thought-provoking TV series of all time.

"DUSTED DOWN has no padding. It is all meat. It is a fast flowing river from first to last page. You never rest...The depth of analysis is incredible."
Chris Riley, The Tally Ho

'THE CALLAN FILE'

SOLDIER. CRIMINAL. STATE EXECUTIONER.

Film and television audiences and readers of spy thrillers in the 1960s and 1970s were thrilled by the perilous life of David Callan, reluctant employee of the ruthless British intelligence agency known as ‘The Section’. Involving covert operations, blackmail, frame-ups and brutal executions, with British spies who were as callous as their Soviet opponents, the Callan franchise was dark and uncompromising, poles apart from the glamorous exotica of James Bond and The Avengers. Created by James Mitchell, the Callan TV series ran for four years and is still highly regarded over forty years later. The lead actor, Edward Woodward, became a household name and went on to appear in The Wicker Man and The Equalizer.

The Callan File features interviews with cast, crew and writers, many offering fresh insights into Woodward’s early career and telling the story of Callan both on screen and off. As well as new interviews with (among many others) actors Patrick Mower, Peter Egan, Hugh Walters, Julian Glover and Kenneth Gilbert, writers Robert Banks Stewart and Trevor Preston, directors Piers Haggard and Mike Vardy, the authors have also been able to use archive interviews with James Mitchell, Edward Woodward, Russell Hunter, Anthony Valentine, William Squire, Clifford Rose, Terence Feely, Ray Jenkins, Bill Craig, Peter Duguid and Shaun O’Riordan. The book includes a foreword by James Mitchell’s son Peter and an afterword by Spooks: The Greater Good director Bharat Nalluri.

Covering all aspects of Callan on film and TV, in novels, short stories and on radio, this book is the only guide you’ll ever need. Produced with the full co-operation and support of James Mitchell’s family, with exclusive access to their Callan archives.

‘Everyone was a newcomer to the small screen in those days. They didn’t all last the distance but this book captures exactly how an idea became a TV legend.’ -
Peter Mitchell, son of Callan’s creator

'A comprehensive background check on one of British TV's most enigmatic anti-heroes.' - Dick Fiddy, British Film Institute

'A wonderfully researched book.' - Bharat Nalluri, director of 'Spooks: The Greater Good'
